Wouldn't call it a mall anymore...More like a Really Really rundown building with a couple stores. And I wouldn't park in the parking lot, dose not look save!
We stopped by here because we were going through New Ulm and it was very hot out. This is an awful mall. There is a Herberger's in here but the rest of the mall was abandoned. It looked like there was a church in here and an antique store (which had been closed for a long time).
This place is an absolute joke. Conditions of the building are terrible. Absolutely filthy. Once there were 3 different bowel movements found in the hallway. The building isn't heated causing its customers discomfort. The hallways were falling apart with no concern to clean up. Water pipes broke and mild can be smelled thru the facility. The owner is very unprofessional. Witnessed him cursing out a patron in front of kids and other adults. Swearing in front of them and kicking children out of the room that is rented out for a service that he has agreed upon. Cops came and he couldn't even show authority the respect needed to handle the situation. New ulm is such a beautiful town but this "mall" is like the slums.
TO THE TWO MEN WHO ARE IN CHARGE OF OPERATING THE MARKTPLATZ MALL: I saw you openly berate a woman in front of her little boy today. Whatever reasons you two "men" had for being angry with this woman does not matter, because what it comes down to is this: You two, in your quest for power, became ignorant and sad excuses for businessmen and citizens to scare a child in the way you two did today. It's sick. Use your scare tactics in a different field. Preferably one that doesn't involve belittling women and children.
My mom stopped in to use the restrooms and said they were in awful shape and recommended no one else go in there. Definitely skip this.
Ongoing dispute over ownership of the mall has hampered the ability to find and retain businesses. A Herberger's store anchors the north end but there's not much else.
